As I hear about the studies my colleagues are doing, I consider the ethics of the work. Much of it surrounds trapping, surgery, labeling, sex, mating and eventually death, and dismemberment, though death and dismemberment are not always in that order.

While we continue to conduct science for the greater good of the planet (ostensibly) and human beings specifically, one thing is apparent. If any other species decided to do exactly the same things to us, we would go to war. No doubt about it. We would lose, but we would fight.
Today, give thanks to the animals that are losing their lives for your food, your cures, your clothing, your make up and your recreation. Consider where your limits are. Who can and cannot die for you to live or be comfortable?
